So now that we know how to make yummy buns, we can’t just stop here!! I don’t consume meat often but when I do, I only buy organic meat. Cows are treated with more respect and their integrity as animals is respected. Yes, they are killed at the end but they do have a quality of life and aren’t exposed to the same stress that cows experience in the conventional meat industry.
1 pound organic ground meat.
salt and pepper
American cheese (optional)
Optional toppings; chopped lettuce, sliced tomatoes, pickles, onion, chopped avocado.
Special Burger Sauce
2 tbsp pickle juice
1/2 cup Mayonnaise
1 tbsp yellow mustard
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp Sriracha sauce ( chilli sauce)
-Mix all ingredients and set aside.
1- Divide meat into 4 even portions and form into pucks.
2- With a wadded-up paper towel, rub the inside of the skillet with oil.
3- Bring a cast iron skillet to high heat.
4- Add 2 meat patties at a time, season with salt and pepper, place seasoned side down in the skillet and now season the top side.
5- Using a burger press (or wide heavy spatula) press down each one until they’re about 1/2 inch thick.
6- Cook without moving the burger until golden crust develops on the bottom (about 1 1/2 minutes).
7- In the mean time open buns, brush lightly with butter and toast in toaster oven/ grill (or preheated conventional oven) for no more than 1 minute.
8- Using the edge of the spatula, flip the burger carefully, if you’re making cheeseburgers, add the cheese now.
9- Cook for:
30 seconds for medium rare.
45 seconds for minute for medium well.
1 minute for well done.
Top the buns as desired and add a generous dollop of burger sauce.
